What follows war isn't peace but lawlessness and the angels are hunting down refugees and killing them. All that remains of the armies of chimaera is a small band of warriors, not nearly enough to mount a resistance. Broken and bitter, Karou is the only hope for them, she alone is able to resurrect the warriors they desperately need but it means entering into an alliance with Thiago who has his own agenda. Struggling with the guilt over what he has brought about, Akiva watches on as angel armies attack civilians. Finally understanding the words Brimstone said to him, he decides to turn against his own and protect the innocent chimaera. But what can one angel do against the thousands arrayed against him? They're creatures grasping at life with stained hands.Days of Blood & Starlight is as close to perfect as it's possible to be. It's the story of good versus evil, of love versus hate, of hope versus despair. Though profoundly disturbing in parts it is ultimately positive and filled with hope. The worst thing about this book is having to wait for the final instalment of the trilogy.
