After her sister is brutally murdered Mackayla travels to Ireland looking for answers. What she discovers is a world where Fae (fairies) feed on humans and leave them as husks, a world her sister was somehow sucked into. Now the Fae are hunting her down and her only defense is that while most people see them as human, albeit very beautiful humans, she can see them for what they are -- grotesque otherworldly monsters; and her only help navigating this world is a dark and mysterious man who might or might not be an ally.I liked this book a lot although I found the narrative style a little off-putting. The author speaks directly to the reader, almost conversationally. Aside from that the story was engaging and entertaining and fans of the genre will love it.
