★★★★½Book 6 in Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series is (imo) the best. Book 5 Spider’s Revenge saw Gin Blanco finally killing her nemesis Mab Monroe, leaving Ashland's underworld in turmoil. With every two-bit hood gunning for her, her friends convince her to take a holiday and they all head down to a resort town near Savannah. But Gin can't catch a break and finds herself protecting an old friend of her sister's who is being leaned on by a local gangster. The world created by Jennifer Estep is inhabited by giants and dwarves, vampires and elementals (magic users). She writes a tight, entertaining and kick-ass story about an assassin who protects the weak.
