As a young, newly married woman Milla lived in Mexico with her husband, a doctor who was providing free health care to Mexicans who couldn't afford it. While there her newly born child was stolen by a child smuggling ring. In the 10 years since, the tragedy of her lost child has engulfed her life leaving no room for anything else. She teams up with James, a man of ambiguous morality in her hunt for those who took her child, but is he on her side or against her? There's nothing particularly great about this book. It's competent and entertaining, but not remarkable. I liked the characters and story enough that the obvious flaws didn't bother me all that much.
